Our first evening in Xian

After gathering our belongings at the Xain airport we headed to our first stop- the Han Museum and Tomb. As we puller up to the spot there was a very large building which I thought was the tomb- what I learned was the mound of dirt it on top of the tomb. The belief was that the emperor, began planning his tomb as soon as he was made emperor to prepare for the after life. The tomb the emperor was buried in was very elabote, but even more so were the finger chambers that came off the main tomb. In these chambers were the things that would allow the emperor to have the best after-life. Clay soldiers, horses, carrages, pots, food, animals- all made from clay, and some living we sealed in these chambers. The museum is an under ground musuem that shows two of the chambers of Emperor Han's tomb. This was a great start!
